Advanced Apprenticeship in Information and Communications Technology (Level 3)


Course outline

This qualification is ideal if you plan to work in an ICT support role in public or private sector organisations. You’ll build on your existing IT skills and we’ll get you industry-ready!

You will develop and demonstrate skills and knowledge within a workplace to achieve a Diploma in Information Communication Technology.

A significant amount of on-the-job training and assessment is undertaken in your workplace. Alternatively workshops can be scheduled at work or at College.

This is a demanding, but interesting and enjoyable course in which you’ll gain valuable workplace experience in an administrative role.

Most jobs in this sector are office-based with a typical 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday working week.

English and maths - skills for your future
Employers and universities really value skills in English and maths. So, building on your existing knowledge of these subjects will help you prepare for your future career or further study. *If you are aged 16-18 and have not yet achieved GCSE English Language and Maths at grade C or above/grade 4 or above don’t worry - we’ll support you with the right lessons to increase your confidence in these essential employability skills.

Enterprise skills
Our courses are designed to help you achieve your ambitions, whether you plan to go on to a higher level of study or start a career. Employability and study skills will be included to help you develop the broad skills required by industry. They will vary from course to course and are designed to meet local and national employer needs.

Level Level 3
Entry requirements
  • You will need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week in a relevant job but we can assist you in finding a placement.
  • You will also need GCSEs at grades A* to C/9 to 4 or equivalent in English Language, Maths and ICT. Some employers may require additional qualifications depending on the role.

Adults who are aged 19+ with appropriate industry experience but without the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply.

All applicants will be required to undertake an assessment in English, maths and ICT prior to enrolling.

Teaching & assessment

You will develop an electronic portfolio of evidence against the requirements of the qualification. Evidence for the portfolio can be generated by observation in your workplace, witness testimonies, case studies or personal accounts of events. Online tests and assignments may be used to confirm your knowledge and understanding.
