Apprenticeship in Dry Lining (Level 2)

Course outline

On this course you’ll learn the skills needed for a career in dry lining while earning a wage.

This course is for those employed in the construction industry as a dry liner. You will come into College one day a week to complete the underpinning knowledge and portfolio building to compile the evidence you need for your qualifications.

The apprenticeship is made up of the following elements:

  • NVQ 2 in Dry Lining
  • Level 2 Diploma in Dry Lining
  • Employment rights and responsibilities
  • Personal learning and thinking skills

You will also study English and maths.*

English and maths - skills for your future
Employers and universities really value skills in English and maths. So, building on your existing knowledge of these subjects will help you prepare for your future career or further study. *If you are aged 16-18 and have not yet achieved GCSE English Language and Maths at grade C or above/grade 4 or above don’t worry - we’ll support you with the right lessons to increase your confidence in these essential employability skills.

Enterprise skills
Our courses are designed to help you achieve your ambitions, whether you plan to go on to a higher level of study or start a career. Employability and study skills will be included to help you develop the broad skills required by industry. They will vary from course to course and are designed to meet local and national employer needs.

Apprenticeship in Dry Lining

Duration

18-24 months

Level Level 2
Entry requirements
  • You will need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week as a dry liner.
  • You will also need GCSEs at grades A* to D/9 to 3 or equivalent in English Language and Maths. Some employers may require additional qualifications depending on the role.

Adults who are aged 19+ with appropriate industry experience but without the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply.

All applicants will be required to undertake an assessment in English and maths prior to enrolling.

Teaching & assessment

Each unit is continually assessed. You will present evidence of competence via practical assessments and production of a personal portfolio.

Progression

There is no advanced apprenticeship in this subject. However there is the possibility, after gaining experience in your chosen occupational area, for you to progress into occupational work supervision, management or technical support areas.

Additional information

You will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment at all times during your placement and at College when using any tools/machinery.
