Course outline

This course will lay the essential foundations for a career in the music industry or progression into higher education.

This practical course teaches expertise in a range of areas including music production and recording studio techniques, taking you through all the stages of production, from laying down and recording your original sounds, to mixing, mastering and marketing your final productions. You’ll also gain vital inside information about how the music industry works, enabling you to get a head start towards your chosen career.

  • Introduction to audio & music technology
  • Music production techniques
  • Sampling synthesis
  • Audio & music technology in live performance
  • Major studio project
  • Event promotion and mastering

So, building on your existing knowledge of these subjects will help you prepare for your future career or further study. *If you are aged 16-18 and have not yet achieved GCSE English Language and Maths at grade C or above/grade 4 or above don’t worry - we’ll support you with the right lessons to increase your confidence in these essential employability skills.

  • A career in a variety of roles, including music producer, touring crew, sound engineer or in music management.
