Bricklaying Skills - Basic - Part-time

Course outline

The course includes practical assignments covering: 

  • Basic Health and Safety
  • Identification of tools and materials
  • Measure, cut and mark out bricks
  • Jointing brickwork
  • How to set out and build: A single skin Stretcher bond wall, a Flemish bond wall, an English bond wall, a Cavity wall, a pillar and a corner.

None, we welcome applications from learners who have no previous experience of bricklaying.

Teaching & assessment

There is no external assessment, however, the tutor will continually assess your practical work and offer feedback.

Progression

Employment as a trainee bricklayer or progression to a Diploma Level 1 in Bricklaying.

Additional information

Wearing protective clothing and footwear is advised.
