Course outline

Perfect if you’re looking for a career in the world of business and want to learn more about the vast options available including marketing, accounting and HR. It will equip you with work-related, practical skills as well as sound business theory and knowledge to help you progress.

You’ll learn practical, work-related skills. By completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands, you will learn about the business world. There are 18 units and you will study half of the units each year. You’ll cover the business environment, business resources, introduction to marketing, business accounting, management accounting, relationship marketing, developing teams in business and recruitment and selection.

You can expect to be fully prepared for the business world by learning key industry skills from top class tutors.

This course is based at the City Campus (Adams Building).

Entry requirements

You’ll need 5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4 (A*-C), including English Language and Maths – both of these must be grade 9-4 (A*-C) or Functional Skills level 2 in English and maths or a relevant Level 2 vocational qualification with English and maths GCSE grades 9-4 (A*-C).

Teaching & assessment

There are externally assessed exams and assignments including making presentations, reports, poster presentations and role play.


Choose to follow with higher education programmes including the FdA in Business Management pathways or related subjects or employment in industry.
