Cake Decoration for Beginners — Part-time
Course outline
This course will give an introduction to cake decorating, using a variety of techniques to create a professional finish to your cakes to wow family and friends.
Learn how to make and decorate cupcakes/cakes with basic buttercream techniques and to pipe flowers that transform ordinary cupcakes into beautiful designs. You will be given the opportunity to make different butter creams and cakes.
Learn how to make an ombre cake and achieve a smooth ombre effect buttercream coating with a sharp edge finish and chocolate ganache drip and to make flowers using melted chocolate.
Community classes are first steps into learning for many adults, enabling them to find out more about a subject of interest in a welcoming, inclusive local venue.
From September 2024, funding changes mean that courses primary aim is to support students into further education or employment opportunities (paid or voluntary). If students wish to continue studying the same subject on a leisure basis, it may be possible to set up full cost courses, subject to tutor and room availability.

Entry requirements | You must be aged 19+ and have a good standard of English as you will be required to complete a short workbook with the help of your tutor. |
Teaching & assessment | Tutors will give regular verbal and written feedback. You will be required to complete a short workbook and encouraged to set you own personal targets as part of this course.
