Course outline

If you are embarking on a career in HR or if you are working in the field in a support role and wish to develop your skills, then this course is for you.

By studying this course you will acquire a wide range of relevant practical personnel skills, with which to become more efficient in your current or desired role. Leading to roles in HR and management, you could be earning between £16k - £39k a year depending upon your level and experience.

You will be expected to actively participate in this course and work on practical project assignments, which will allow you to see how your skills are developing, not only in centre exercises, but also in your place of work.

By completing this certificate, it provides the knowledge required for assessment for the new Associate Professional level of CIPD membership. If you are able to demonstrate your certificate knowledge  in the workplace through membership assessment, then you will be awarded the new Associate Professional level of membership with designatory letters.

The course consists of the following:     

  • Interpersonal & interviewing skills   
  • Instructional techniques   
  • Employment legislation   
  • Performance management   
  • Training & development   

On completion of this course you will have a sound understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviours required of a professional HR practitioner.

There are no formal entry requirements, however prospective students should be aware that the course requires some report writing and Microsoft Word skills, as well as a good standard of written and spoken English.

Teaching & assessment

Assessment is by written assignment and skills assessment. There are no formal examinations.
