This course is perfect if you’re interested in how housing and commercial developments get off the ground. You’ll get a taste for the various professional pathways available in the construction and built environment industry.
You’ll learn the processes and operations involved in construction technology and about the complexities of planning and designing the built environment. You’ll gain an understanding of groundworks, planning site utilities and explore the application of design principles in designing large developments.
You can expect to explore a range of construction skill sets like brickwork, plumbing and electrics. Plus, you’ll build strong foundations for your knowledge in potential careers in construction such as engineering, surveying, planning, property developing, site management or in more technical areas such as design and CAD.
This course is based at the Basford Hall Campus.
BTEC Extended Certificate Level 2 in Construction and Built Environment
You’ll need 4 GCSEs at Grade 9-3 (A*-D), including English Language and maths – one of English Language or maths must be grade 9-4 (A*-C) (Functional Skills L1 can be used as equivalent to GCSE Grade 3 (D) and Functional Skills L2 can be used as equivalent to GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above.
Choose to follow with further study at Nottingham College on our Extended Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment or into an Apprenticeship or employment with the sector.
