Electrical Installation (Level 2 City & Guilds Diploma) — Full-time

Course outline

This is perfect if you’ve got an interest in electrics, enjoy problem solving and knowing how things work, and want to pursue a career as an electrician.

You’ll learn about the science of electricity, and the technology behind how it is generated, transmitted and installed. You’ll also learn the practical skills needed for an electrical installation, such as containment systems, wiring systems, the installation of accessories, switch gear and machinery.

You can expect to improve your knowledge of electricity and working with it, and how this knowledge can be applied in industry. There will be a range of practical skills tests and theory assessments to ensure you understand the science foundations and how to work safely in industry.

Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including both English Language and Maths.

Progressing students must have successfully completed the Electrical Installation Level 1 course, have achieved English Language and Maths at grade 4 (C) and passed a progression assessment.

Teaching & assessment

There will be a range of practical skills tests and theory assessments to ensure you understand the science foundations and how to work safely in industry.

Progression

Choose to follow with further study at Level 3 or into an apprenticeship through Nottingham College. You could also find permanent employment as an electrician or trainee within an organisation.

Additional information

Students aged 16-18 don't have to pay tuition fees.
