This course is perfect if you see yourself working as a designer in the world of fashion, textiles, soft furnishings, costume or even in fashion accessories.
You’ll learn a range of fashion and textile skills; fashion; pattern cutting; construction and production; womenswear/menswear; childrenswear; bridal; costumes; contour fashion; knitwear; textiles; constructed and multi-media textiles; surface pattern and printing; design for fashion; interiors; soft furnishing; accessories; giftwrap. The course is equivalent to 3 A Levels.
You can expect plenty of expert guidance on preparing your winning portfolio and you’ll get the chance to showcase your work in a final year public exhibition. You’ll get to grips with the complex but exciting world of the fashion industry through guest lectures and industry visitors.
This course is based at the City Campus (Adams Building).
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Fashion and Textiles
You’ll need 5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4 (A*-C), including English Language and Maths – both of these must be grade 9-4 (A*-C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and maths or a relevant Level 2 vocational qualification with English and maths GCSE grades 9-4 (A*-C).
Choose to follow with degree level study in art, fashion, textile design, fashion marketing, interior design or other related creative industry. You could also move straight into employment in a junior fashion role.
