Course outline

This course is perfect if you have a passion for, and interest, in science and want to explore degree level study and career options in a healthcare Science, Nursing and Midwifery, social care or any medical profession.

You’ll learn about human physiology, social development, behavioural sciences, biochemistry, environmental health, health promotion, nutrition and the wider applied sciences within a health-based environment.

This course is based at the Basford Hall Campus.

Pearson BTEC Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care (Health Sciences)

Duration

2 years

Level Level 3
Entry requirements

You’ll need 5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4 (A*-C), including English Language and Maths – both of these must be grade 9-4 (A*-C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and maths. You can also gain a place by having a relevant Level 2 vocational qualification with English and maths GCSE grades 9-4 (A*-C).

Progression

Choose to follow with further study at degree level in Health and Social Care or a related medical field such as nursing, midwifery, nutrition, palliative care or in a range of other medical and science based roles.
