Course outline
If you have moderate learning difficulties and/or disabilities and would like a supportive programme, which teaches you a range of valuable skills for everyday life and independent living, then this course could suit you.
This course is for learners with moderate learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
You will study English, maths, ICT, personal and social development, independent living and employability skills. There is a range of vocational elements which can include:
- Art and design
- Sport
- Cookery
- Enterprise
There are also comprehensive enrichment elements built into the programme. In addition, there is an opportunity for all students to undertake a work experience placement.
This course will be held at the Arthur Mee Centre in Stapleford for the first term and will then move to the brand new SLDD centre at our Basford campus in January 2025.

| Entry requirements | There are no formal entry requirements, however you will need to complete an English and maths assessment to determine the right course supported programme for you. We would expect for you to have an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) issued by relevant local authority to support your needs. |

| Additional information | The programme is fully supported and run in small groups. It endeavours to provide a positive and rewarding experience for each learner. You can read more about how we support our learners here. As the year progresses you will be taken out of College on visits and activities which may incur a very small cost. We also run various social clubs that you can join to increase your confidence and enhance your independent living skills outside of normal college times. Students aged 16-18 don't have to pay tuition fees. If you are aged 19 or over you may still be eligible for funding. Check out our Financial Help pages to find out more!
