Course outline

Previously known as V1, this course is designed for those who maintain the quality of assessment from within an organisation or assessment centre.

You’ll be able to develop your skills, gain underpinning knowledge and demonstrate competence in the workplace to help you progress in your career.

You’ll develop skills to enable you to refine and improve your teaching and learning as well as use constructive reflection in order to enhance your continuing professional development.

The course consists of the following units: 

  • unit 4: understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment
  • unit 5: internally assure the quality of assessment

4 weeks part-time

Level Level 4
Entry requirements

You will need a relevant Level 3 qualification plus GCSEs in English Language and Maths at Grade 9-4 (A*-C). 

You’ll need to be aged 19+, managing and monitoring a minimum of two assessors who are assessing a minimum of two candidates, each undertaking a QCF accredited qualification. You’ll also need to access a qualified internal verifier (IV) in your own subject area. 

Teaching & assessment

You’ll be assessed through a portfolio of evidence, professional discussion and observations. 

Assessment will take place in your workplace and you’ll have up to one year to complete a portfolio of evidence.

Progression

You could progress on to the Certificate in Leading Internal Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process and Practice. Career options include teachers, trainers and assessors.
