The International Foundation Programmes are designed for students, whose school leaving qualifications gained in their home country are not suitable for direct entry to a British university undergraduate degree. The course is at Level 3, which is equivalent to A-Level standard.
Our International Foundation Programmes were developed in association with the University of Nottingham, but they are widely accepted by many British universities, so the university you progress to is entirely your own choice.
In China, our Foundation Programmes are marketed by our Chinese Partner under the brand name ‘University First’.
You will study the following modules:
- Economics (32%)
- Management and Finance (28%)
- Mathematics (20%)
- Computer Science (5%)
- EFL (10%)
- Information Technology (5%)
The percentage indicates the contribution of the module towards the final grade.
International Foundation in Management and Economics - equivalent to NQF Level 3.
3 terms, starting in September.
The general entry requirements for our Foundation Programmes are as follows
Please note that the IELTS qualification must be a SELT (Secure English Language Test). Alternative equivalent SELT qualifications, i.e. Trinity are also acceptable
|Teaching & assessment||
Assessment is on-going, through coursework and examinations. The proportion of coursework and examinations for each module is as follows:
At the end of the course you will receive an overall grade of ‘Pass’, ‘Merit’ or ‘Distinction’, based on the percentage contribution of each subject.
The College also arranges optional IELTS tests twice per year, for which an examination fee is payable. As a guide, the 2016 fee was £150 for the standard IELTS test offered in the College. For the SELT IELTS test taken externally at a UKVI Approved SELT Centre the price is higher (approximately £200).
On completion of the course students can progress to degrees such as: Pure Economics, Industrial Economics, Management Studies, and Operations Management.
Many students choose to apply to the University of Nottingham, where our international students taking this course will receive a guaranteed conditional offer for selected degrees. A typical offer would be 70% and IELTS 7.0 with no less than 6.0 in any element.
Other students choose to apply to one of the many other universities which have accepted our Foundation Programmes for progression, including Aston, Bath, Birmingham , Bristol, Durham, Hull, Keele, Leeds, Lincoln, Loughborough, Nottingham Trent, Oxford Brookes, Sheffield Hallam, UEA, Warwick and York.
As a guide, most universities will require a Distinction grade at a specified percentage and a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 for entry to their degrees.
