Make-Up Artistry (Level 2) - Full-time

Course outline

Perfect if you are interested in a career as a make up artist in TV, Film, fashion, theatre, photography or perhaps within a salon or as a wedding make up specialist.

You’ll learn the basics to get you started as a professional make up artist using top of the range brushes and make up products to learn make up application techniques. You’ll learn about facial structures, skin tones, body painting and contouring. You’ll develop your knowledge of colour palettes, working with different lighting and how the make up industry works.

You can expect to work with fantastic products and make up kit, participate in shows and events and get loads of practical experience working with live models. As part of your course, you will also be required to obtain work experience.

You can study this course at either the Beeston Campus or Clarendon Campus.

Entry requirements

You’ll need 4 GCSEs at Grade 9-3 (A*-D), including English Language and maths – one of English Language or maths must be grade 9-4 (A*-C) (Functional Skills L1 can be used as equivalent to GCSE Grade 3 (D) and Functional Skills L2 can be used as equivalent to GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above.

Teaching & assessment

You’ll complete a range of practical and theory-based assignments to demonstrate your learning and skills as you progress through the course. 


Choose to follow with our Advanced Level 3 programme in make up artistry or perhaps into an Apprenticeship or other form of employment. You could also choose to specialise on our Level 3 programme in theatrical, special effects and media make up programme.
