Music Production

Course outline

This is one of only a handful of programmes in the country that will allow you to progress from your HND or foundation degree to a full BA (Hons) degree.

With access to great facilities and performance spaces, you will fully explore and develop your musical skills and creativity.

It introduces and develops practical skills, theoretical knowledge,  modes of thought and academic practice. You will investigate the evolving demands of the music industry and look at the development of professional practice through the exploration of traditional and contemporary musical models.

You will develop your academic knowledge alongside your subject-based skills, producing a final product which may be a performance, installation or other medium that explores the use of music.

You will also gain specific vocational skills, with the option of following modules in either musical direction or music technology system design.

Modules may include:

  • academic research skills
  • contemporary issues in music
  • music technology system design or musical direction
  • modern composition
  • product realisation
  • dissertation
  • marketing and self-promotion

The course takes account of the variety of activities common within the music and creative industries and this is reflected in the range of group and individual activities with increased independence being given as the course progresses.
