Course outline

This course is perfect if you play an instrument or sing and you want to develop your skills to perform live or record in a studio.

You’ll learn about the music industry, composing and making music, different instruments, reading and writing music and recording songs.

You can expect professional musicians as tutors and lots of opportunities to play and record. You also study other skills like maths, English and ICT.

This course is based at the Clarendon Campus.

BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Music

Duration

1 year

Level Level 1
Entry requirements

You’ll need 4 GCSEs at Grade 3-1 (D-G), including English Language and Maths at Grade 3-1 (D-G) or a Relevant Entry 3 vocational qualification and you will also be asked to sit an Initial Assessment. The initial assessment must show that you are ready to study English and maths at Level 1.

Progression

Choose to follow with a Level 2 Diploma in Music or Music Technology or into another career using the transferable skills you’ve gained.
