Course outline

This course is perfect if you like to be creative, have a good eye for detail and enjoy seeing projects through to completion.

You’ll learn how to measure up, work out areas and volumes, understand ratios and read plans. You’ll cover a range of painting and decorating techniques, learn about various materials and various tools used in the painting and decorating trade. You’ll also cover health and safety on site.

You can expect to learn in a newly built construction centre, getting hands-on learning to ensure you craft your skills to the best of your ability, working with the latest in paint technology and decorating best practice.

This course is based at the Basford Hall Campus.

City & Guilds Entry Level Certificate in Painting and Decorating.

Entry requirements

You’ll need to complete an initial assessment before you start on the course which will involve you taking a skills test and complete an interview with the tutor.

Progression

Choose to follow with a Level 1 painting and decorating programme, or perhaps another building trade, or apply to be an apprentice.
