Pipework Systems Mechanical Engineering Technology (Level 2) - Full-time

Course outline

This course is perfect if you’d like a career in the construction industry and would like to work on interesting engineering projects in the future.

You’ll learn about engineering specifically related to the production of complex formed pipework and pipework systems including pumps, valves, filters and tanks. You’ll develop skills like bending and forming shaped pipe to create new systems and repairing failing systems.

You can expect to learn the tricks of the trade from tutors who have worked in this industry who will ensure you learn in a safe and productive way. You’ll have access to industry-standard equipment and kit, making the transition from college to career, an easy one.

This course is based at the Basford Hall Campus.

Entry requirements

You’ll need to have successfully completed a Level 1 plumbing course at pass grade or above, or have relevant industry experience. You’ll need 4 GCSEs at Grade 9-3 (A*-D), including English Language and maths – one of English Language or maths must be grade 9-4 (A*-C) (Functional Skills Level 1 can be used as equivalent to GCSE Grade 3 (D) and Functional Skills Level 2 can be used as equivalent to GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above.


Choose to follow with a Level 3 Plumbing course here at Nottingham College or straight into an Apprenticeship or employment.
