Plastering (Level 1 City & Guilds Diploma) — Full-time

Course outline

This course is perfect if you have a good eye for detail, have good coordination and enjoy physical work. There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing a well plastered wall and knowing that you did it!

You’ll learn about plastering for both businesses and housing and understanding how to work safely.

You’ll learn:

  • How to prepare walls
  • How to mix and prepare plastering materials
  • Precision cutting of plasterboard
  • The fine art of plastering application

You can expect to finish the course with a good foundation of skills to enable you to carry out a range of plastering techniques. You’ll study in dedicated workshop spaces and complete a range of practical assessments.

Entry requirements

You’ll need 4 GCSEs at grades 1-3, including English at grade 2 and Maths at grade 2. Alternatively, a relevant Entry 3 vocational qualification would be considered.

Teaching & assessment

You will be assessed by completing a multiple choice paper and practical assessment.

Progression

Choose to follow with further study at college on a Level 2 programme either in plastering or another trade, or onto an apprenticeship.

Additional information

Students aged 16-18 don't have to pay tuition fees.
