Course outline

The programme is designed to enable learners to gain employment within the Salon Industry at management level.

The course covers general management skills as well as specific salon related managerial roles to include:

  • Health and Safety Laws
  • Marketing
  • Research in the hair and beauty sector
  • Public relations
  • IPL hair removal
  • IPL skin rejuvenation
  • Advanced Epilation
  • Micro Pigmentation
  • Hair colour correction
  • Hair and Scalp Specialist Services
  • Manage the creation of a hair collection
  • Manage the creation of a male hair style collection
  • Air brush make up
  • Application of prosthetics

This is just a sample of the units that may be included but there are others and these will be selected and discussed with individual learners nearer the time.

Qualification

City & Guilds Level 4 Certificate

Duration

2 years

Level Level 4
Entry requirements

Applicants must be educated to Level 3 within Hair and/or Beauty, have achieved a minimum of GCSE Grade A*-C or Level 2 Functional English or equivalent, have at least 2 years industry experience/employment and be aged 19+.

One to one interviews will be carried out prior to enrolment and individual learners will be screened for suitability to complete the course during induction.

Teaching & assessment

The units for this qualification are assessed in a number of ways which include assessor observation, practical assignments, and case studies with an emphasis on written assignments. Direct study will also be used throughout the year with tutorial support on a one to one basis.

Progression

This qualification will help learners gain employment at a higher level eg Spa Management / Salon Management.

Credits gained can then be used to progress into Higher Education.
