Sewing Skills: Dressmaking


Course outline

You will learn how to draft a skirt and bodice block and make them into patterns. You will also have the opportunity to try different skirt and bodice variations using their blocks. You will all be able to choose a style of variation to make into a toile.

This course is suitable if you have already completed a NCFE level 1 course(s) at the Textile Workshop and are interested in progressing your skills.

Teaching & assessment

There is no formal assessment and tutors will give ongoing verbal feedback. You will be encouraged to set your own personal targets.

Additional information

Please bring:

  • At least 3 metres of calico or any 100% cotton fabric for toile.
  • Basic sewing kit: fabric scissors, tape measure and pins
  • Ruler or big set square, pen and pencil set and note pad .
