Still Life Drawing

Course outline

Whether you’re a keen artist or just starting out, this part-time course offers you a great opportunity to share your creativity with like-minded people in a relaxed, informal learning environment.

Using the most up-to-date techniques and materials, this short course is great for building your confidence and/or refining your skills.

During the course you will be encouraged to look at things with a fresh eye, experiment with different colours and to fine-tune your technique.

You will look at basic forms and how to render them in line, tone and colour, including:

  • Sphere
  • Cone
  • Cylinder
  • Cube

You will then use these forms in everyday objects such as fruit and vegetables, as well as covering traditional still life subjects like:

  • Books
  • Bottles
  • Lamps
  • Cutlery, pots and pans

From your initial sketch book ideas, you will develop your work and finish it using one, or a combination of, the following methods: pastel, oil, acrylic or watercolour.
