This course is perfect if you are interested in the education of children and young people and would like to work in a school.
You’ll learn the importance of child and young person development, safeguarding, communication and professional relationships, individual and team practices in schools, health and safety, supporting positive behaviour and supporting learning activities.
You can expect to acquire all the skills and experience necessary to succeed in your chosen career. Our dedicated teaching staff will support you along the way, encouraging you to reach the highest of standards and you will be expected to complete a work placement, which will be assessed. This well-structured programme offers the perfect balance between theory-based and practical learning, equipping you with the wealth of skills and understanding required for this caring profession. You will complete work experience placements (two days a week), which will be assessed continuously.
You can study this course at either the Clarendon Campus or the City Campus (Maid Marian Way).
Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning
You’ll need 5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4 (A*-C), including English Language and Maths – both of these must be grade 9-4 (A*-C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and maths or a relevant Level 2 vocational qualification with English and maths GCSE grades 9-4 (A*-C).
Choose to follow with further studies on a Supporting Teaching and Learning in School Foundation Degree. Career options include; senior teaching assistant, senior learning support assistant and senior special educational needs assistant.
