Course outline

This course is perfect if you love the world of travel, have a passion for customer service and enjoy putting a smile on people’s faces.

You’ll learn about the travel and tourism industry and the skills required to succeed in it. You’ll cover areas such as customer service, planning visits, UK travel and tourism, local geography and preparation for employment.

You can expect lots of subject variety, visits to give you first-hand experience of the industry, and to complete a range of practical/written assessments and presentations/.

Pearson BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Travel and Tourism

Entry requirements

You’ll need:

  • 3 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C), one of which must be English or Maths; or
  • A relevant Entry 3 vocational qualification.

You will also be asked to sit an initial assessment. The initial assessment must show that you are ready to study English and maths at Level 1. If your results are lower than this, don't worry, we'll find the right course for you.

Teaching & assessment

You'll be assessed via a range of practical and written assessments and presentations.

Progression

Choose to follow with further study at Nottingham College on a Level 2 Travel and Tourism or Aviation course. Career opportunities include: aircraft or cruise ship stewarding, travel agent, holiday representative or airport crew.

Additional information

Students aged 16-18 don't have to pay tuition fees.
