Twelve Central College Nottingham Sports students helped run Rushcliffe School Sport Partnership’s annual Stride for Life event. Stride for Life itself a take on Cancer Research UK’s Race For Life, with year 10 girls from Rushcliffe schools choosing to either run or walk the 5km course in an attempt to raise money to support cancer research. The event which is held annually at Rushcliffe Country Park, has been a huge success over the last 8 years, and has this year seen the total money raised go above the £16,000 figure.
The event saw over 500 girls take part, with Central College students both helping marshal and run the event. The students had to use a variety of skills on the day, from quickly understanding the course layout, their individual roles, and health and safety procedures. The students also had to interact with a range of people on the day, including both the runners themselves and members of the general public.
A big well done to all of the volunteers who made the event such a success.
