UK universities visit Central to meet students

Published on: 11/11/2015 (11:15AM)

Central College Nottingham held a special university fair for its International Foundation students in October, so that students could speak to representatives from 18 British universities, that have been popular progression choices for Central’s International Foundation students in recent years. The visiting universities included: Nottingham, Hull, Bath, Manchester, Warwick and York to name just a few.

Over 100 students from a range of International Foundation Programmes took the opportunity to find out about undergraduate courses, life at a UK university, entry requirements, and how to apply, all from the comfort of their own college. Some of the Universities also delivered useful presentations on things such as writing a personal statement and what makes a good UCAS application, which students found very informative and a useful addition to the information and support provided to them by the College.

Marcia Cameron, Progression Advisor for International students at Central said:

“Our International Foundation students have a wide range of university options available to them. We arranged the university fair so they could find out lots of information that is tailored to them as international students. We have partnerships or progression agreements with most of the universities that attended, with others being consistently popular choices for progression, so we were delighted to invite them in as guests to meet our students.”

Fannie Yeung, from the University of Hull commented:

“It was my pleasure to be at the mini fair. Congratulations on a very well-organised and successful event. The atmosphere was fantastic and I felt very welcomed by everyone that I came in to contact with. The students I spoke with were all very enthusiastic and driven. Hopefully we will see some of them on our campus next year.”
