Business

Our business courses are work-related qualifications for those interested in a wide range of careers such as Accounting, Retail, Human Resources, Marketing, and Administration. Our courses will give students a broad understanding of the skills needed for the business and professional world. Courses combine a mix of lessons, practical experience, industry talks and trips to give you a real flavour of what the subjects are all about. Our tutors have a wealth of experience within industry so you can be sure you are learning from people who have been there and in some cases, even bought the t-shirt.

Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Business

This qualification provides an opportunity to develop a broader understanding of the business sector. In addition it introduces a limited number of specialist areas and the opportunity to acquire some of the practical skills identified by employers as the fundamental building blocks for future competence in the workplace. Core units include enterprise in the business world, finance for business and principles of marketing. This course will also include Functional Skills in English and Maths.

Hours: Approximately 16 hours per week for 1 year, offered on a Year 11 infill basis.

Information Technology

Information Technology is used extensively and course work is carried out in realistic simulated tasks. There’s no escaping it, IT is in our lives all day, every day. An IT course at Central will help prepare students for a career in computing.

The course is practical as well as academic with hands-on computer work. Units covered include:

  • The Online World (Core)
  • Technology Systems (Core)
  • A Digital Portfolio (Core)
  • Mobile Apps Development
  • Computer Networks
  • Installing and Maintaining Computer Software
  • Installing and Maintaining Computer Hardware
  • Automated Computer Systems or Website Development
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English

Hours: 16 hours per week for 1 year offered on a Year 11 infill basis.
