Fee Information 2016/17

Full fees waived

Some students are able to have their full tuition fees and exam / registration costs waived. They will only be required to pay any material costs that relate to their course. To find out if you are eligible to have your full fees waived, please check the table below to see if you fall into any of the fee exception categories. 

Full Fees Waived (materials fees to paid in all cases). *Age 23 applies on the day you actually start the learning aim/course Evidence Required to Claim

Full Fees Waived (materials fees to paid in all cases). *Age 23 applies on the day you actually start the learning aim/course:Students aged 19-23* studying an Entry, Level 1 or 2 qualification, without a prior Level 2 Evidence Required to Claim:Signed Declaration A on the enrolment form stating intention to progress onto Level 2

Full Fees Waived (materials fees to paid in all cases). *Age 23 applies on the day you actually start the learning aim/course:Students aged 19-23* studying an Entry, Level 1 or 2 qualification, already achieved Full Level 2 and Unemployed (see unemployed section) Evidence Required to Claim:Signed Declaration E on the enrolment form

Full Fees Waived (materials fees to paid in all cases). *Age 23 applies on the day you actually start the learning aim/course:Aged 19+ undertaking Functional Skills or GCSE in English and/or Maths qualifications Evidence Required to Claim:Signed Declaration D on the enrolment form confirming that GCSE English/Maths qualifications are not held at A*-C grades.
:7. Full Fees Waived (materials fees to paid in all cases). *Age 23 applies on the day you actually start the learning aim/course:Students aged 19+ undertaking ESOL qualification and unemployed (see unemployed section Evidence Required to Claim:Complete Declaration E on the enrolment form

Partial Fees Waived (exam and materials fees to be paid) Evidence required

Partial Fees Waived (exam and materials fees to be paid):Undertaking an Entry, Level 1 or 2 qualification and in receipt of one of the following: Disability Allowance; ESA in support group; Incapacity Benefit; Employed and in receipt of state benefit Evidence required:Letter dated within 3 months of enrolment OR older letter along with a bank statement dated within the last 3 months OR Letter dated within current tax year outlining specific benefits authorised

Unemployed

For funding purposes a learner is defined as unemployed if one or more of the following apply:

  • In receipt of Job Seeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • In receipt of Employment and Support Allowance in Work related activity group (ESA WRAG)
  • In receipt of other State Benefit and earns either less than 16 times the NMW* a week or £330 a month. The learner wants to be employed or progress into more sustainable employment
  • In receipt of Universal Credit and earns either less than 16 times the NMW* a week or £330 a month AND are determined by Jobcentre Plus (JCP) as being in one of the following groups:
  • All Work-Related Requirements
  • Group Work Preparation Group
  • Work-Focused Interview Group

*16 times National Minimum Wage per week:

  • Aged 19-20 - £85
  • Aged 21-24 - £107
  • Aged 25+ - £115

More Information

19+ students starting a Level 3 or above may or may not be eligible for fee remission. The table below is the summary of funding eligibility at Level 3 and above qualifications, excluding apprenticeships:

Provision:Level 3 qualification 19-23 year old:Loan-funded (previously achieved Level 3 or above) 24+:Loan-funded
Provision:Level 4, 5 and 6 qualification 19-23 year old:Loan-funded 24+:Loan-funded

You are required to pay your tuition fees if there is no fee remission available. You may be able to apply for a 19+ Advanced Learning Loan. Applications are made via the Student Loans Company. for more information visit www.gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan

If you have lived outside of the UK/EU or are a national of a country outside of the UK/EU and European Economic Area, you will need to be assessed for fee status as you may not qualify as having ‘home status’ as defined by our Funding Agencies. If assessed as not having ‘home status’ you will need to be referred to the College’s International Office who will be able to advise on fees and other requirements.
